Static-9

Warning this is our 9 month update and a picture overload!!!

That's right.... Baby K is now 9 months old!!!! Nine months=static charge

No, I'm not talking about just her wild, crazy hair! Mommies in Gymboree class told me that something happens during the eighth month that really kicks in and makes your baby reach many of those milestones you've been waiting on... your baby gets a static charge, so to speak, that keeps her moving and busy!

We are definitely busy now that Baby K is mobile. It's hard to get her to stay still for a second. She is into anything and everything! We are now officially a creepy crawler and every day she gets a little faster.

Baby K is talking and yapping. At 9 months old her current favorite words are dada, mama, and baba. I'm pretty sure that she has not connected the words with the people yet and just likes to babble her consonant sounds... but one day that static charge will click as well! Maybe in this upcoming month?

The nine month appetite is good like her mommy's! Although she is still toothless she loves Cheerios, Yogurt Bites, Biter Bisquits, and puffcorn! Those gums are tough! After every bite she likes to say MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. H2O is already a favorite as well, but sippy cups are still too hard to hold on her own.

Although Baby K is starting to dislike all of the jumpers, bouncers, saucers that keep her from being mobile... we still manage to entertain her with the exersaucer. This is my life saver and how I am able to use the bathroom, take a shower + shave my legs, and dry my hair. I don't know what I'll do when she outgrows this! Tie her down?

When Baby K doesn't get what she wants, she will definitely let you know. This 9 month old is feisty. If you take away an object she has her heart set on, try to change her diaper, or make her sit still when she wants to be on the go.... you definitely hear about it from her. She isn't afraid to speak her mind scream and squeal to let you know she is dissatisfied.

Her joy is like a static charge to my heart and soul.

Her happiness radiates like electricity through my veins.... it makes my heart beat faster. Funny noises and flashlights make her laugh the most... oh and sometimes when I do a silly dance.

We are so blessed that up until this 9 month point she has been a very healthy baby! She has outgrown the reflux and gassy stage completely. She weighs 16 lbs even... as much as a bowling ball! She is 27 3/4 inches long with a big ol' head! She's my petite pumpkin head munchkin. Now, if I can just keep her from busting her head... we'll be good.

One of the main reasons we are on constant head bump watch is that Baby K now pulls herself up to the standing position whenever she can.

It is amazing the changes that are taking place daily. It's like something clicks... she gets a static charge... that changes everything and helps her reach a new milestone. I am intrigued by her development and overjoyed by her growing personality.

It's a big world my 9 month old baby.... I love exploring it with you every day!

Like a flowing static electricity...the happiness, love, joy, hope and purpose you, Baby K, bring to our lives flows through our heart and soul. Thank you God for this tiny blessing. We are reminded of your love and grace every day in our role as parents to our precious, beautiful, joyful 9 month old daughter.

I have told you these things, that My joy and delight may be in you, and that your joy and gladness may be of full measure and complete and overflowing. John 15: 11

Not Just Another Pretty Face

I introduced you to this beautiful blonde a while back through her blog Small Town Crown. Now, if you visit her blog, she is behind.... with good reason. She has been getting ready for this...

This is Mallory Ervin, Miss Kentucky, competing at preliminary night at The Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas. (Image shared via Mal's FB page). She stands at about only 5' in stature but there is a BIG personality within her tiny package!

I met Mallory, the small town gal, through a summer performing arts program called Governor's School for the Arts. We were both musical theater kids and even though we didn't attend the same year... this love for broadway, for music, for the arts has kept me well connected with her as she traveled on to pursue her love for music at Sewanee.

The thing that really made me love my Miss Kentucky the most was this...

I remember during college at a time when I was missing singing and acting and dancing sooo much (the things I LOVED most in my life)... she wrote me the most special facebook message. (I know you are laughing because I said "special fb message".. well there is such a thing. I didn't know at the time that she was destined for Miss Kentucky, but I knew then, that she had a wonderful heart and had a SPECIAL gift for making people feel good about themselves... making them feel cared about... making them feel special. Dang, I wish fb had archived that message. Can't remember the details, but at a moment when I needed a little pick me up, a little slap of the ol' encouragment stick, and a "cyber hug"... she gave it to me. I think it's the little acts of kindness we do unto others that mean the most. I will forever be grateful to her for what seems to be such a silly thing (a fb msg... right?) but what meant so much to me.

Anyways... she did go on to win Miss Kentucky, and I was not surprised. She is not only beautiful and talented, but she has a heart for people.

and I have a heart for her swimsuit body...

Dear goodness gracious... why can't my stomach look like that!!!???

I know she has worked so hard in every aspect to prepare for the Miss America competition pageant, which is TOMORROW NIGHT!

Get twitter ready ladies... because this is about to be more fun than The Bachelor!!

(Image taken from Mallory's fb page).

I can honestly say that Mallory would be an AWESOME Miss America. I am so proud of the way she has represented our state, and I know that she would do an amazing job representing our country as well. Plus, she is a theater gal. We are like chameleons ready to act our part in the toughest situations. She loves people, she is bubbly, warm hearted, smart, real, energetic, feisty, a true southern belle and oh yea.. beautiful....she's the whole package girls.... NOT just another pretty face.

So BEST OF WISHES and ALL MY LOVE from a the gal that you coined the nickname "Miss America of Domestic Bliss". Rooting for you girl to bring home the crown and title of Miss America!!!

Wanna hear her talent!?? Click the link below.

LISTEN TO HER SING!

Make sure to tune into TLC tomorrow at 8/7C to watch your state compete or root for MINE! =)

I will definitely be tweeting live if you wanna discuss.

Skank Baby.

Sticky.
Kruddy.
Abundance of food spillage on clothing.

Nappy hair.

Yet still...
Kissable.

Baby K decided to paint her body head to toe with food today.... I'm not a bad mom... I'm just waiting to bath her before bedtime! I'm kind of a "Skank Mommy" too right now, but I won't break that one down. hehe I love my little "Skank Baby"!!! =)

Tuesday's Ten: Awkward Moments at the Gyno

In the spirit of my appointment today...

1. Previsit scrubbing. You know you aren't a dirty person, but the shower before your doctor visit is a looooooooong one. No one wants to be remembered for a stinky butt. I even paint my toenails before I go.

2. The waiting room. It's very hard not to picture the nasty, smelly woman across from you being examined and even worse... laying on the very table and using the very stirrups you will be using. BLUGH!

3. The awkward moment between the time the nurse hands me the gown and leaves the room to let me put it on and when the doctor enters. I always rush to get mine on because I'm afraid someone will walk in on me (like it really matters when they are about to see all of me anyway) but this time actually ends up being soooooooo long. It's weird sitting (basically) naked in a room alone in silence. Then towards the end I start dreading what is to come...

4. The "small talk" the doctor tries to give you while doing the breast exam. "So what about those CATS being number 1?" Please just feel for lumps as quick as possible!

5.THE SCOOT. The doctor gets her instruments and says "scoot on down for me". Can you ever get down enough on that first scoot? I know I can't. She keeps telling me.... "a little more..." and "just a little more".... Much more doc and my butt might be in your face!!!!

6. The nurse that is watching it all go down in the background.... hmm.... enjoying the view? I will say...I love my nurse but still feel awkward about her seeing my goods.

7. The even more awkward "small talk" during the pelvic exam. Doc, there is NOTHING that is going to make me feel any less uncomfortable through convo. The only thing that will help me is for you to get your hand off my uterus and close shop.

8. My doc has pictures of celeb hunks hanging on the ceiling so when you lay back...that's what you see! Umm.... get me a picture of the ocean NOT a picture of George Clooney, Matthew Mcconaughey or Will Smith. Eek.

9. After they finish examining you and they hand you a wad of Kleenex (at least this happens to me). I never know when to use the Kleenex or what to do with it.... they stand their expecting me to wipe in front of them??? ummm... No thanks.

10. The exit. You try your best to get out of there as fast as you can and then they try to talk to you. Lady you just saw all my goods... I can't talk to you right now!

Be thinking of me.... I'll be dealing with Baby K too!

update!!! Okay so when attempting to man a squirmy, fussy baby and a cup of cheerios at the same time while half naked... I found today's visit even more difficult and awkward.... I will say this tho... I was truly too busy taking care of Baby K to care about who was poking at my hoo hoo. =)

Copy this code to your website to display this banner!

Rolling down sandy hills.... playing hide-n-go seek.... spin the bottle.... blek.

Corny with a CAPITAL C. I did think the dune buggies would be cool... Okay here are my thoughts...

Tenley: Did anyone else notice that while Tenley rolled into Jake's arms in the sand, Jessie was floppin' around about an arms length from them and couldn't get up... this was probably the BIG CLUE that Jake was NOT into Jessie! Tenley is still my #1 choice for Jake... bubbly goes well with cheesy. They make a perfect pair....plus Tenley is a cool name and she was Ariel... love. her.

Ali: What is going on with Ali? LOVED her up until now. I feel like Cyndi Lauper's True Colors should be playing right now. She seemed so "girl next doorish" and now it's clear that she is a pot stirrer. She's being so caddy about Vienna. Seriously, Ali.... worry about yourself! I still think she's cute even if she is a B that wears all yellow and has messy hair.

Sausage: A-NNOY-ING. I know she's the underdog and all the girls are against her but she's just a very "drive me crazy" kind of gal. I'm sorry to say this but she looks cracked out. The orangey hair... the 5 inch black roots... the crazy BIG eyes... the dark circles. She's just silly and to be honest... Jake is silly so this may be why they have a connection. They are stupid people. Harsh... I know.
Corrie: She is a cutie and all but I don't see it. She blends in the background too much.

Ashleigh: Thank GOODNESS she got sent home. Her COOCHIE about popped out while she was trying to throw herself on Jake. I'm afraid of what we may have seen if she had stuck around.

TN momma: JAke just wasn't ready to be your baby daddy. Be happy you get to go home to your son! I could have never left my child... but who am I to talk... I have trouble leaving her to pee.

KY Kathryn: You came across as desperate with all the "you don't pay attention to me" and "you are making a mistake" talk.... Please buy a copy of "He's Just Not that Into You" for future dating. I will say that I'm glad that she didn't do anything to embarrass us... overall... go Kathryn for not making a fool of KY and keepin' it pretty classy and boring.

oh GIA: I almost forgot about her. I felt like their whole date was staged for the camera. She is just so-so to me... she just is blending in the background too.

Jessie: Who's Jessie? I had to LOOK HER UP on the ABC website. I don't think we will even notice she's gone.

Jake: You earned some points with me this week because you sent most of the right people home... HOWEVER... please quit crying like a pansy and being so dramatic. Jake admitted tonight that "he liked dirty girls" and the BEST scene of the night involved a VERY OVERLY dramatic burning of an innocent rose. hmph.

**We started something new tonight with a hashtag. If you participate from now on then make sure to include #ATFT in all of your tweets so everyone can see one another better! @DuetDiva #ATFT that rose was filled with fuel....POW

So They All Rolled Over and ONE fell out...

So much happened last week but I was way too busy with preparing for the shower to take the time to sit down and blog.

FIRST off... Baby K had her 9 month checkup. She will be 9 months on the 30th and as cliche as it sounds... she's growing up way too fast!

She weighs 16 lbs even and is 27 3/4 inches long. Once again she's in the 10th percentile on her weight, 50th on height and 75th on her big beautiful wild-haired HEAD. Thank the good Lord above for another clean bill of health.

It was so funny because the doctor asked me if she could make consanant sounds yet. This was a big fat NO. She chooses to growl instead. That's right, growl. But later on in the week something happened....

She officially started crawling with BOTH legs and is quite the mover (except when we go to our Gymboree class...then she freezes up).

The reason for the title of this post is.... you guessed it... she FELL OFF THE BED! She was sleeping in my bed and I piled pillows all around her. I was downstairs wrapping a gift for the baby shower when I hear a THUMP THUMP! I died.

As out of shape as I am... I'm pretty sure under the circumstance I was faster than lightning. I flew up the steps trembling and fearing the worst. Baby K was sitting on her butt between the nightstand and the bed. She bumped her head, but it really didn't even make much of a place. I could not believe she had survived. I just knew I had killed her. FREAKED me out! Our bed is really tall too. The few moments between the sound of the thump and me being able to see and hold her felt like an eternity. I'm sure this is the first of many big bumps... but this only goes to show me that now that she is definitely mobile... I can't keep my eyes off of her! Thank God for angels watchin' over my little one! I like to think they padded her fall.

Here's some proof she survived her big fall!
This was after the baby shower. Dave and Baby K had been hiding in our bedroom with Sam while the event took place. I think she was glad to be out of her cage! Oh and she started eating Cheerios!
I didn't realize babies could eat Cheerios without teeth, but she does a pretty good job. I am still paranoid about choking.... but I'm also paranoid about every little other thing too. I'm that mom.
Guess what other milestone K reached last week?
She said dadadadadadadadadadadadadada..... well something like that. Not only can she growl! (She also said ma ma ma but not as much as da da da).

Dave wasn't even home so I'm pretty sure she doesn't associate the word dada with her daddy....although we won't tell him that! hehe I'm going to try my best to get it on camera.... I know you are dying to see. (That was sarcasm.)

Proof that she is now on all fours!
And we are finally starting to get too long for our 6 months clothing!

She's sportin' the high waters! Don't judge... Dave dressed her!

When we joined Gymboree about three weeks ago, the other mothers assured me that BIG things happen in the 8th month and boy were they right! Crawling, standing and talking.... what's next? Maybe a first tooth?

I love her sooooooooooo much.......... my cup runneth over.

Blue & Brown Baby Shower for Henry Parker!

Today I hosted a baby shower for one of my friends and ADPi sisters, Erin. Erin is due with a little boy in March and I am so excited for her and her husband Casey! When I was a freshman I went on spring break to Naples, Florida with Erin and several other Pi sisters. Erin had just gotten engaged and she lost her engagement ring in the SAND! FOUR days later, after much heartbreak and with the help of an old man and his metal detector, she FOUND her ring! We all knew that Erin and Casey were 100% meant to be! AND now they are soon-to-be....Casey and Erin Plus One!

Here are a few pics from our fun day celebrating the upcoming arrival of Henry Parker. We had a blue and brown theme and it was perfect because it matched my home decor! Enjoy!

The mantle decorated with a banner and blocks!

The front door hanger.

The invite minus our address so if any creepers read this they can't find us!

The entry way table. The guestbook was actually a notebook with a poem on the inside cover that instructed guests to write their words of advice and encouragement for the parents-to-be!

This was before guests arrived, so my gift is the only one on the gift table. I loved the poms!

The cake!

How cute was this cake?

A view of the cake table.

The diaper cake.

An adorable wall hanger made by one of my favorites...my flip flopz.

The yellow tulips were the prizes for the two winners of our games.

The beautiful mommy-to-be!

Erin with her grandmother (on the left) and her mom (on the right).

The hostesses with the guest of honor! From left to right: Me, Tammy, Erin and Mamma Suz.
If you notice the television screen... I made a video slideshow of Casey and Erin and of Henry's ultrasound pictures.

The food table.

Another shot of the food and cake table.

All those pregnancy hormones make Erin tear up when their is a tender moment in the room!

All of the gifts! We had around 25-30 guests show up to celebrate. She was showered with love!

Three of my beautiful sorority sisters. The one on the far left you may recognize from here.

A special gift with Henry's name.

The favors.

Organic soaps for everyone!

A final shot of the hostesses with Erin. Notice what we were watching on T.V. Oh yeah! Kentucky is now #1!!! Just had to throw that in there. ;)

Such a beautiful pregnant lady!

Erin's belly PLUS one. =)
